MENTAL HEALTH ORGANIZATIONS IN KENTUCKY

University of Kentucky Counseling Center and The Hope Center

University of Kentucky Counseling Center

This counseling center is located on the campus of the University of Kentucky, they are here to help students, faculty, and the families of the students. They offer many services for these groups including counseling, a relaxation room, well-being workshops, and much more at no charge. Students have easy, on campus access to mental health resources if they need them. In addition to students, they have resources for parents, faculty, and staff as well as opportunities for training. Further information on this organization's mission and how the community can help is located under the interview tab where we asked a professional from the program to answer this information for us.

The Hope Center

This organization is located in Lexington, Kentucky, and works along with Bluegrass Comprehensive Care. Their mission, like many other organizations, is to help those struggling with mental health-related issues and to provide them with substantial living and health care. Something special about this program is that they also focus on the homeless population, ensuring that they receive food, shelter, clothing, and other essentials that they may not have access to on the streets. Importantly, they work to care for their patients even after they finish their time there, ensuring that they continue to improve. To get involved with The Hope Center, they give the opportunity to volunteer and work closely with their services to help make a positive change in mental health. In addition to volunteering, people can also donate to the organization to provide meals and shelter to patients. Special events they hold through the year include “Ball Homes Night of Hope” and “Hoops for Hope” that each fundraise for the organization and allow them to prosper in their service to help others.
